I am a qualified electrician/technician and specialised in high voltage through my career .I worked for Eskom for twenty years .I sustained severe injuries in a near fatal occupational incident at work when I clearly disregarded safety rules and regulations.
11000v of power went through my body when I made contact with it when I was working nine meters above ground on an overhead network .I lost three fingers on my right hand and sustained severe hands injuries and a broken hip.
I started telling my story in a small scale at Eskom and then intensified my talks during the company’s zero harm campaigns in Gauteng ,Limpopo and Northwest Provinces where I addressed thousands of employees, managers and contractors .I also appeared on Soweto community tv talking about my life changing experience.
My mission is to raise awareness about the importance of a safe workplace ,the benefits as well as the dire consequences of not adhering to the safety rules and regulations.
